On his way to school one winter day, David, a shy, creative young boy, sees a beautiful bare tree. When he gets to his classroom, he takes out a piece of paper and starts to draw the tree he has seen. His classmates are intrigued by his picture and begin to approach with suggestions. David tries some of them out, then invites his classmates to help. Amanda adds grass, Ryan adds leaves, Jamal adds some stickers, Kira adds clouds. As the picture develops, David enjoys the interaction and attention, and begins to make new friends. He proudly writes “Our Class Picture” on the finished work, including himself in the group. When David gets home from school, he begins a picture of the tree again, finding satisfaction in doing something on his own as well as creating a reminder of the activity that helped him make friends at school.
