The Guide to Healthcare Reform ― Readings and Commentary

Covering both theory and practice, this text/reference examines the history, principles, aims, elements, and implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Each chapter provides about 10 pages of overview, then presents a collection of readings from books, journals, and magazines. Chapter-ending summaries, discussion questions, and suggested research activities are included. Chapters deal with prevention and population health, chronic disease management and primary care, productivity and quality, payment incentives, the safety net, health insurance reform, and health policy and advocacy. The book can be used as a text for students in healthcare management and administration programs, for courses that look at broad aspects of the healthcare system. It can also be used as a reference for health professionals and those in MBA and executive development programs, especially those involved in healthcare policy planning and strategy.
