本書的前五章是建立會計概念的重要階段，作者融合台灣會計事務處理的實務，建立「三環四扣」的會計循環，乃好記易懂的學習架構。第十九版的修訂除再次從第十八版內容中去繁存菁，更特別加入接軌IFRS的資訊。台灣雖沒有特別聲稱使用何種方式，但從近幾年來發表的財務準則公報（如第10號修訂、34、35、 37、38號公報）部分依據IFRS精神修訂，稱之為「接軌」應不為過。
在此新舊準則交替的時代，研讀財務會計該如何因應？尤其使用美國版教材之初學者，勢必在GAAP、ROC GAAP、IFRS之間徘徊。建議大家把前兩者看成是一體，並且兩者都朝接軌IFRS邁進，所以在建立會計概念時，應以IFRS的精神與規範為主。
