The Photographs of Bedford Lemere & Co

Bedford Lemere & Co was a British architectural photography firm in the late 1800s through the mid-1930s. The 250 high-quality b&w photos presented here are from the Bedford Lemere Collection held by English Heritage in its public archive. They offer a unique window on life in England from 1870 to the eve of WWII. The photos offer interiors, exteriors, and street views, and often show large groups of people working inside or assembled outside of the buildings. An introduction gives background on architectural movements of the period and reviews the history of the Bedford Lemere Company and its leadership and techniques.
