商品簡介
In this introductory text for students with a previous microeconomics course, Feldstein (health care management, University of California-Irvine) illustrates the use of economics for understanding public policy issues affecting the health care sector, particularly the financing and delivery of personal medical services. The first four chapters build a foundation for understanding how legislation has impacted the financing and delivery of medical services. The next three chapters overview the medical care sector and the demand structure of medical care and health insurance in the US. Later chapters examine causes and effects of competition in the medical care, insurance, physician and hospital services, and pharmaceutical markets. Staffing and also addressed. The book concludes with a proposal for national health insurance. Most chapters include appendices on related mathematics, modeling, and new legislation. This seventh edition is rearranged into shorter sections and contains new material on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, plus a new chapter of case histories that illustrate real-world applications of health care economics theory.
