When they arrived at the workhouse.the beadle discoveredthat the board oftthe workhouse was meeting.They wantedto see 0liver and speak to him.0liver did not know whatthe board was and didn'tdare to ask.He was afraid.Mr.Bumble hit him with his stick to hurry him up,and tookhim to the board room.There,0liver found eight or ten fatgentlemen sitting around a large table.one of-the chairswas higher than the others,and the‘man in it was fatter than.the others.
"What's your name,boy?"asked the fat gentleman.
