Redefining Asia Pacific Higher Education in Contexts of Globalization ― Private Markets and the Public Good

The dynamic global contexts that currently are redefining Asia Pacific higher education include issues of cross-border education, capacity and national birthrate profiles, the pressures created within ranking/status systems, and complex shifts in the meanings of the public good as they are presented within societies trying to balance between the historic provision of public and private higher education. The chapters included in this edited volume provide a set of key analytical concepts and references that readers can employ to enrich their understandings of the content-focused chapters. With case studies from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan, and South Korea, the topics address issues pertinent to the region and the entire globe.
