The Eu-ukraine Association Agreement and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area ― A New Legal Instrument for Eu Integration Without Membership

This legal analysis of the Association Agreements (AAs) between the European Union and Ukraine signed in 2014 explores the legal basis and ‘integration without membership’ objectives of the agreement, its comprehensive character, particularly the CFSP and AFSJ dimensions, and the new forms of enhanced conditionality. The second half of the book focuses on the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) for integrating the Ukraine into the EU internal market, comparing the DCFTA with other free trade agreements enacted by the EU and scrutinizing its market access conditionality and mechanisms for ensuring a uniform interpretation and application of the EU acquis.
