Recent developments in the bankrupt city of Detroit , the ultimate shrinking city in the developed West, while exceptional, are used as a reminder regarding the importance of continuing to develop a European approach rooted in more pro-active urban and regional planning while respecting the diversity of different national approaches.

作者簡介
Lead editor is former Council member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and recent member of an EU expert group on the future of European shrinking cities. Co-author of 2013 final report, includes introduction by the EU Director General for Regional and Urban policy. Active conference contributor and writer and recently asked to chair Aberdeenshire/Aberdeen Council committee on housing land allocation in the city region.
