Well over a century has passed since two cadets of the Ole’ War Skule decided to create a brass band for their alma mater. Today, the hard work and dedication of past directors and band members lives on as LSU’s celebrated Golden Band from Tigerland. This beautifully-illustrated account of the beloved marching band covers its entire history from its military origins to the directorships of Castro Carazo, William F. Swor, and Frank B. Wickes, to the first female drum major, Kristie Smith, in 1999. Faye Phillips and Tom Contine highlight the band’s triumphs of the last decade as well, including the Sudler Trophy award, induction into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame, and travelling abroad to march in Hong Kong’s Chinese New Year celebration and Dublin’s St. Patrick Day Parade.
作者簡介
Faye Phillips swerved as LSU Libraries’ Associate Dean and retired in 2012 after twenty-six years of service to the university.
