The Sceptical Road ― Aenesidemus' Appropriation of Heraclitus

A specialist in Hellenistic philosophy and medicine, Polito here revises and expands his 1999 doctoral dissertation Aenesidemus' Interpretation of Heraclitus for Cambridge University. One of the few Sceptics to have eluded anonymity, he says, is Aenesidemus of Cnossus, one of the actual founders of the school in the middle of the first century BC. Later Sceptics have identifies what might be a dogmatic streak through the Greek's profession of doubt, however, in his description of Scepticism as a path towards the philosophy of Heraclitus, a pre-Socratic who made several claims as to how things are and confessed himself to be the spokesman of the divine and universal Reason.
