Moore (computing and information systems, Leeds Metropolitan U., UK) et al. compile 15 research projects aimed at improving the educational prospects of disabled people, focusing on themes of technology, transition, and inclusivity. Researchers from the UK and Australia working in technology, higher education, disability support, and other areas address educational technologies designed to help disabled students. These include eye tracking technologies for those with profound multiple learning difficulties, haptic or touch-based technologies for those with visual impairments, computer aided tests to help university staff become aware of issues facing these students, computer based learning systems for people with autism, and facial recognition software to enhance emotional literacy in children with severe autism. They then cover transition issues, including encouraging participation in higher education, supporting university students with autism, and reconsidering the social model of disability, making higher and further education more inclusive, developing a dyslexia support system, and staff development.
