郭莉編著的《西方兩大法系》是一本全英文的介紹大陸法系和英美法系對比的學術專著。全書共分為九章，分別從兩大法系的歷史、法律制度、法律淵源、司法實踐等方面對兩大法系進行了對比研究。
本書采用專著的形式來寫作，對法律英語的教學有推動作用，以往法律英語教學主要是法律英語教材，形式比較死板、枯燥。而本書這種形式會讓學生不單單是學習法律英語，更能豐富法律知識。國內能直接用英語寫作的學者并不是很多，這本書的出版可以說豐富了法律圖書的出版語種，也可謂中國法學界與世界法學對話做一個大膽的嘗試。
