商品簡介
In general, Western historiography informs itself, and is quite happy with this arrangement. In this proceedings of the conference "Chinese Historiography and Historical Culture from a Comparative Perspective" of October 2001, part of the International Project on Chinese and Comparative Historiography, contributors argue for a new approach incorporating intercultural dialogue. Their articles examine historical truth from the religious viewpoint of the West and the tradition of redefining "truth" in China, historical comment and the history of criticism in both traditions. They include a lively commentary on a preoccupation of modern criticism, the historian's trustworthiness and the influence of his or her ideology. Articles contain their own references.
