Organized in two-week units that align with a single writing standard, 180 Days of Writing provides high-interest themes and allows students to interact with mentor texts during the first week of the unit, and apply their learning during the following week.
Students get practice in all the steps of the writing process: prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. With daily writing practice, students can gain confidence in their writing skills as they formulate their own opinions and learn to express them.
Creative writing is also included, with narrative pieces and informative/explanatory writing assignments, helping students to find the joy in writing and strengthen language and grammar skills at the same time.
Teachers can use daily practice activities as part of a classroom morning routine, at the beginning of each writing lesson, or as homework. Genre-specific rubrics and data-analysis tools provide authentic assessments that help teachers differentiate instruction. All activities are correlated to College and Career Readiness and other state standards.
Help your students develop strong writing skills that will serve them throughout their school years and beyond.
