Searching for Sleep

Somewhere deep in a dark cave sleeps a family of black bears: he father, the mother, and four cubs. But wait! One of the cubs isn't sleeping after all ...

In this adorable picture book, a little bear cub is sure that sleep must be hiding from him. He searches under his sibling's beds, but doesn't find it there. It isn't flattened under the rug, or hiding under the sheets either. Where could it be?

Pierrette Dube is the author of over twenty books for children. She studied arts at the Unversity of Montreal and translation at McGill University, and has worked as a proofreader, editor, and translator. Her books have won many French Canadian awards, including a Prix des libraires du Quebec 2015, the Prix du livre M. Christie 1996 (best book for children under seven), and the Prix Quebec/Wallonie-Bruxelles de litterature de jeunesse 2007. She lives in Saint-Lambert, Quebec. Searching for Sleep was published in the original french as Ou s'est cache le sommeil? (Editions Les 400 coups, 2012).

Genevieve Godbout lives in Montreal where she works as a children’s book and fashion illustrator. She studied traditional animation in Montreal and at the prestigious school of “Gobelins” in Paris. Some of her clients include The Walt Disney Company, Chronicle, Random House Canada, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Flammarion, les editions Milan, Comme des Geants and La Pasteque.
