Feminisms in Geography: Rethinking Space, Place, and Knowledges

In this text comprised of teaching chapters, reprints and original essays, editors Moss (human and social development, U. of Victoria) and Al-Hindi (geography and women's studies, U. of Nebraska at Omaha) and contributors analyze a range of issues in the field of feminist geography and those who practice it, questioning the very purpose of creating such an anthology. As they mutually regard the possibility that a feminist hegemony is developing in the Western academy they describe the years of disregard women experienced in the practice of geography and its pedagogy, the rising of postmodernism and feminist empirics, the balance of the margins and the mainstream, the challenge of feminist schools of thought within geography, languages of collaboration, and the development of spaces for feminist praxis, using international case studies.
