Metropoetica

A unique collaboration from some of Europe’s most exciting contemporary female voices, this work is the result of writing and walking in different cities across Europe in response to the questions What does writing poetry have in common with walking in the city? In translating poetry, what lost paths, dark alleys, and chance connections are encountered? and How are the maps by which cities are known allow for new poetry to be discovered? Each of these lyrical pieces, which deftly explain the relationships between place and language, provide new and refreshing ways for readers to see European cities.

Ingmara Balode is an award-winning poet and translator. She is the author of Candies to Cut the Tongue and the literary editor and translator at ? Satori, a literature and philosophy forum. Julia Fiedorczuk is an award-winning poet, a translator and a lecturer in American literature at Warsaw. She is the author of four volumes of poetry, a collection of short stories, and a novel. Sanna Karlstrom is an award-winning poet and the author of three collections of poetry. Ana Pepelnik is a poet and a presenter for the independent radio station Radio ?tudent. Zoe Skoulding is a poet and the author of the poetry collection Remains of a Future City. Sigurbjorg Trastardottir is a writer and columnist. She is the author of two collections of poetry, Circumnavigation and Land of Blue Flames. Elzbieta Wojcik-Leese is a translator.
