The Apostles in Early Christian Art and Poetry

In a revision of his 2014 PhD dissertation at Radboud University in The Netherlands, Dijkstra investigates whether there was a specifically Christian aesthetic in art and poetry that can be distinguished from that of late antiquity in general. He takes the apostles as a case study, because they are a group of Biblical characters who were commonly known among Christians of the period. He begins by discussing references to the apostles in Greek and Latin poetry by author in chronological order.
