35 Years CISG and Beyond

A January 2015 conference convened in Basel, Switzerland to mark 35 years of the The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG), and most of the papers presented appear in these proceedings. The 21 papers are arranged in sections on the economic analysis of CISG; the decline of reservations; extending the CISG; CISG, state action, and regionalization; and CISG and fair contract law. Among the topics are a global empirical survey of choice of law in practice, the application of the CISG in international commercial arbitration in China, the control of unfair standard terms in international commercial contracts, harmonization in the European Union, and fair trade in international contracts and ethical standards.
