The New Sat Essay ― A Complete Writing Guide

My name is Elizabeth and I’m the creator of The Test Prep Spot. I’m also a private tutor for high achieving students preparing for the SAT. Additionally and most importantly, I’m a special education teacher in a public school working with students who have learning and language challenges. The more I tutored, the more concerned I became about my special education students. They would need more supportive materials in order to understand what’s covered on the SAT. They would also need simplified, explicit instruction in content and strategy. So, I made my own study guides and The New SAT Essay Writing Guide is my answer to this problem.

Inside the guide, you will find step-by-step instructions that take you from start to finish. This book provides a formula (or template or plan) for writing the New SAT Essay. I begin by analyzing the prompt and tell you exactly the kind of essay you’re expected to write. Then, I teach you about the most common persuasive devices used on published sample and practice essay questions. Next, I break down a passage and identify each persuasive device that’s used by the author. Then, I examine three effective example essays (based on just one passage) to show you how to use the formula. The example essays are even color-coded to help with understanding the formula. Finally, the guide ends with a reproducible template, which is extremely helpful for organizing thoughts and learning this writing process.

Who should use this guide? I truly believe it can help everyone, but it can be especially beneficial for students who need explicit, step-by-step instructions and formulas to be successful writers.
