This book was first published in 1976 as Intelligence Research Methodology: An Introduction to Techniques and Procedures for Conducting Research in Defense Intelligence. The original 382-page version is abridged here to 216 pages, removing outdated information. The book is intended to help develop skills and work habits for doing research and intelligence analysis. As one of the earliest attempts to professionalize intelligence work, it is also a window into history, with numerous references to the Communist threat. Clauser is author of several publications on intelligence education and training. Goldman is author or editor of numerous articles and books on intelligence.
