The Embassy of Pero Vaz de Siqueira to Siam (1684-1686)

When the author was preparing her Masters dissertation in 1995, she found a report of the Embassy of Pero Vaz de Siqueira. She noticed it to be of great importance, both because it reported on the diplomatic and economic ties between Macau and Siam, as well as contained information on the Siamese society of the time. This manuscript of the Embassy of Pero Vaz de Siqueira to Siam is to be found in the Historical Archives of Goa, in Pangim. As with most of the documents found in the Archives of Goa, this particular document is not well kept. Some of these documents can also be found in the Portuguese Overseas Film Archive in the format of microfilms, though some are also difficult to read. This book is, thus, the result of a research project carried out, both in Macau as well as in Goa, published in the format of an annotated edition, with introductory texts.
