The original title is A Poesia Clássica Chinesa: Uma Leitura de Traduções Portuguesas. For the West, the translation of Chinese classical poetry represents a permanent challenge because, originated from a very old tradition, this poetry forms a very specific world, thus becoming a sea full of risks, but also of surprises for any translator. In this dissertation, which focuses on some Portuguese versions of Chinese classical poetry, it is intended to observe how the translators face the characteristics of the outgoing cultural-linguistic system in its relation to the incoming one.
