Local Economies and Global Competitiveness responds to a growing concern among scholars, professionals and policymakers over the recent decades about competitiveness of territories in a context of increasing globalization and keener international competition. Bruno Dallago is Professor of Economics, Head of the Faculty of Sociology and Director of the School on Local Development at the University of Trento, Italy. He was President of the European Association for Comparative Economic Studies and Visiting Professor at various universities, including the University of California, Berkeley, USA, and the Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo, Japan. He has been a consultant to various international organizations. His research interests include comparative economics, the transforming economies of Central and East Europe, SMEs and entrepreneurship.
Chiara Guglielmetti is currently Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the School on Local Development of the University of Trento and holds a PhD in Law and Economics from the University of Bologna, Italy. She has been Visiting Scholar to various universities and Erasmus Mundus Research Fellow at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. Her research interests include comparative and development economics, transition in Central and Eastern Europe, spatial inequality and entrepreneurship.
