In this collection surveying the current state of the field of Chinese foreign policy, the editors (both of Harvard U.) have chosen contributions from multiple theoretical perspectives, methodologies, and academic generations in order to give readers a feel for the scope of the field. The first seven papers focus on security policy, discussing Chinese use of force, policy towards conflicts of interests affecting war and peace, and China's strategy as arising power. The next three look at China as an actor in multilateral institutions and its response to changing notions of sovereignty, economic globalization, and other global trends. The influence of domestic politics and public opinion as they relate to US-China relations are discussed in two papers that precede the concluding discussion of the state of the field. 作者簡介
Alastair Iain Johnston is the Laine Professor of China and the World at Harvard University. Robert S. Ross is Professor of Political Science at Boston College and Research Associate at Harvard's Fairbank Center for East Asian Research.
