Transforming Government and Empowering Communities: The Sri Lanka Experience With E-development

The drive to development has evolved a number of alternatives, one of which has been fostered heavily in Sir Lanka. E-commerce in Sri Lanka has contributed to the development of products and markets, including products and markets within e-commerce itself. This report, which project leader Hanna intends to serve as a resource manual to other nations seeking development through e-commerce, starts with the development of a holistic vision for of what the project intended to achieve. He then describes the development of e-learning institutions, including a national agency for governance and standards as well as monitoring and evaluation of progress, development of best practices and options for implementing an associated e-government function, creating plans and strategies for implementation and assessment, methods of empowering communities to reduce poverty, establish best practices and create an e-society.
