These relatively new technologies have raised the bar for dental and oral/facial surgery practice, in part because so many osseointegration and dental implant procedures can produce spectacular results. However, as the contributors explain, procedures can fail just as spectacularly and practitioners must be prepared to repair those failures. Although the contributors call this a monograph the range is comprehensive, addressing such topics as realistic treatment outcomes, local and systemic health considerations, materials designs, related diagnostic imaging, soft tissue aesthetic considerations, prosthodontic, osseointegration failure and means of care, and future directions. Contributors also consider the effects of co-morbidity, including other trauma and infection, case planning, and even administration of the surgery and front office.
