Pediatricians, researchers, policymakers, social scientists, anthropologists, communications professionals, and academics from the US and UK attended the Round Table, which aimed to explore the development of healthy eating behaviors during the first five years of life, and develop a plan for disseminating a public health message. Chapters address the following themes: good nutrition and a varied diet should begin before birth; mothers who breastfeed expose infants to varied flavor experiences, which reflect the mother's culture; parents can practice responsive feeding; the environment of overabundance impacts children; and effective public health interventions are needed, especially with obesity.
