Dynamic Reconfigurable Network-on-Chip Design: Innovations for Computational Processing and Communication

Contributors from European and other countries describe recent developments in the theory and practice of network-on-chip (NoC) design, highlighting emerging issues such as communication protocols, interconnect architectures, and security requirements. After an introduction to reconfigurable NoC from the design perspective, sections cover modeling and design methods for reconfigurable NoC, high level programming of reconfigurable NoC-based systems-on-chip, and a simulation framework for reconfigurable NoC emulation. The final section presents reconfigurable NoC designs, including a dynamically reconfigurable NoC for future heterogeneous multi-core architectures, and a low-power on-chip network with reconfigurable topology.
