Mayo (education, U. of Malta) sets out the ideas that now legendary Brazilian educator Freire (1921-97) taught and practiced, arguing that the greatest and most enduring aspect of his work is his emphasis on the political nature of all educational activity. Education can either domesticate or liberate learners, he says, and in the latter case can foster the disposition to engage in a dialectical relationship with knowledge and society. 作者簡介
PETER MAYO is Associate Professor, Education, University of Malta. He is co-editor of theJournal of Postcolonial Education and the author of several books and articles concerning the work of Paulo Freire, Antonio Gramsci, and other works on adult education.
