商品簡介

Researchers in neurology, psychology, development, pediatrics, and other specialties describe recent developments and the current status of identifying biological substrates and potential early precursors to help in the diagnosis and treatment of dyslexia. They cover brain development, genes, and behavior phenotypes; potential early precursors of specific language impairment and dyslexia; potential neurobehavioral markers and biological mechanisms of specific language impairment and dyslexia; and using developmental neuroimaging for identification, intervention, and remediation. The 18 papers are from the 12th International Symposium of the Extraordinary Brain Series, held in Cong, Ireland in June and July 2010. Annotation Ac2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)

Dr. Benasich is Professor of Neuroscience and Director of InfancyStudies at the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience. Her research focuses on the study of early neural processes necessaryfor typical and disordered language development. Specifically, she studies the development of temporally bounded sensoryinformation processing (shown to be a major predictor of languageimpairment and dyslexia), the neural substrates that support thesedeveloping abilities and the relations seen with emerging languageand cognitive abilities from infancy through early childhood.
