作者簡介
Martha Banta is a professor emeritus in the Department of English at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is the author of six books, including Imaging American Women: Idea and Ideals in Cultural History; Taylored Lives: Narrative Productions in the Age of Taylor, Veblen, and Ford; Barbaric Intercourse: Caricature and the Culture of Conduct; and One True Theory & the Quest for an American Aesthetic. She is the past president of the American Studies Association, a former editor of the Publications for the Modern Language Association, and the recipient of both the Bode-Pearson Prize for Outstanding Contributions to American Studies (2002) from the ASA and the Jay B. Hubbell Award for Lifetime Achievement (2005) from MLA.
