This book offers a collection of international energy statistics prepared by the UN Statistics Division. It provides a global framework of comparable data on long-term trends in the supply of mainly commercial primary and secondary forms of energy. Data for each type of fuel and aggregate data for the total mix of commercial fuels are shown for individual countries and areas, and are also summarized into regional and world totals. The data are compiled from an annual energy questionnaire and supplemented by official national statistical publications. In addition to basic tables showing production, trade, stock changes, and consumption, there is also information on principal importers and exporters of coal, crude petroleum, and natural gas, the capacities of various types of plants and refineries, the ratio of crude petroleum reserve to petroleum production, and new and renewable sources of energy. Definitions, abbreviation and symbols, country nomenclature, and units of measurement and conversions are included. Material is presented in tables, in side-by-side English and French.
