Cross-sectoral collaboration between party-state and civil society is considered a key driving force for China’s potential gradual democratization. This book introduces the principals, actors and methods of participatory democracy to reflect on emerging practices of Chinese administrative reform and community self-government. It examines the ways in which the Chinese reformers have begun to shape Chinese political and administrative culture by applying the goals and means of participatory democracy. It explores the arena of participatory democracy that has opened new ways for party-state, business and civil society actors to interact with one another and how this cross-sectoral collaboration has contributed to good governance in Chinese municipalities and accelerated modernization and societal innovation. 作者簡介
Andreas Fulda is Lecturer at the School of Contemporary Chinese Studies, University of Nottingham, UK.
Song Qinghua is the Founder and President of Shining Stone Community Action (SSCA), Beijing. SSCA is a non-profit, civil society organization dedicated to promote a participatory approach to urban community governance reforms.
