Citing the typical exclusion of Britain in Dutch language histories, Joby aims to prompt inclusion in the future regarding how extensively Dutch was used in early modern Britain. He notes how varieties of Dutch competed with one another, and discusses three themes which provide the framework for the book: the start and end dates and reasons for them; the heterogeneity of the Dutch used in Britain; and the geographical boundaries. 作者簡介
Christopher Joby, Ph.D. (2006), Durham University, is Assistant Professor, Department of Dutch, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Seoul. He has published articles on Dutch culture; a monograph on the multilingualism of Constantijn Huygens (2015); and translations of Huygens’ verse.
