A Guide to the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education Nice Cybersecurity Workforce Framework 2.0

This book explains the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) Framework (2.0). It is aimed at ensuring Bloom level two "comprehension" of the total concept and elements of the NICE model, and serve as the necessary guide to the content areas. The framework is by necessity vast in concept. A top-level book is the most practical approach to conveying the contents of the field. In effect, it is an overview explication of the framework, its concepts, the underlying relationships between the areas and the general content of those areas. In essence the purpose of the book would be to explain WHAT is in the framework.

Anne Kohnke, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of IT at Lawrence Technological University and teaches courses in both the Information Technology and Organization Development/Change Management disciplines at the bachelor through doctorate levels. Anne started as an Adjunct Professor in 2002 and joined the faculty full-time in 2011. Prior to joining LTU, Anne worked in Industry for 25 years where she focused in information technology and management. Her IT career started in the mid-1980s on a help desk, and over the years Anne developed technical proficiency as a database administrator, network administrator, and technical business analyst. After a decade, Anne was promoted to management and worked as a project manager, IT Director, and Vice President of IT and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

Kenneth Sigler is Department Chairman of the Computer Information Sysmtes (CIS) program at the Auburn Hills campus of Oakland Community College in Michigan. He has been a faculty member at the college since 2001. His primary research is in the area of software management, software assurance, and cloud computing. He developed the college’s CIS program option entitled "information Technologies for Homeland Security." Until 2007, Mr. Sigler served as the liaison for the college to the International Cybersecurity Education Coalition (ICSEC), of which he is one of three founding members. Throughout his tenure at the college, he has served as post-secondary liaison to the articulations program with Oakland County, Michigan, secondary school districts. Through that role, he developed a 2+2+2 Information Security Education process that leads students through information security coursework at the secondary level, a four-year articulated program, and finally a career in information security at the federal agency. Mr. Sigler is a member of IEEE, the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF), and the Association for Information Systems (AIS).

Daniel P Shoemaker, Ph.D., is a Senior Research Scientist at the University of Detroit Mercy's (UDM) Center for Cyber Security and Intelligence Studies, the Director of University of Detroit's NSA-CAE program, and Visiting Professor at London Southbank University. UDM's Center includes the Computer Information Systems-Information Assurance Department, as well as the Center of Academic Excellence for National Security Agency. The Center has just completed a two year Department of Defense Contract to develop Software Assurance Curriculum and Courseware. Dan is a full time Professor at University of Detroit Mercy with 25 of those years as Department Chair. As the Co-Chair for the National Workforce Training and Education Initiative, he is one of the authors of the National Software Assurance Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) for the Department of Homeland Security and numerous articles published with Nancy Mead at the Software Engineering Institute.
