Taylor and Weir offer a collection of essays written by 19th century women biblical interpreters on women in the New Testament. The essays are grouped according to subject (the adulterous woman) or person (Mary). Some essays are by relatively well known authors including Harriet Beecher Stowe and Christina Rossetti, but most will likely be new discoveries to the modern reader. Introductions to the essays give a brief but thorough account of the writer and her place in the world. Sections conclude with several study questions for the reader.
