This volume contains 18 articles by political science, communication, and other researchers from Europe, the US, Mexico, and India, who examine the use of new media technologies in social and political agency. They discuss the production of the self on digital platforms; the use of social media by low-carb high fat dieters in Sweden to contest established nutritional authorities; the impact of transmedia campaigns on government policy change; the relationship between conflict avoidance and online political participation; the use of Twitter by citizens in Mexico's presidential campaign electing Enrique Peña Nieto; and the relationship between online forums, direct democracy for citizens, and local policy decision making.
