The Works of Ibn Wadih Al-ya'qubi ― An English Translation

What little is known of Ya'qubi's life suggests that he was of notable Iraqi birth and education, and spent much of his professional life in the employment of provincial governing families of the 'Abbasid empire during the late third/ninth centuries. Gordon and colleagues present English translations of his two major works, which bespeak travel and service of a cosmopolitan scholar and imperial bureaucrat in Armenia, Khurasan, and Egypt. This first volume begins with a biographical sketch and a list of manuscripts, printed editions, and translations of al-Ya'qubi's works.
