Klara the Skating Cow

Farmer Groot often jokes that Klara, his white-and-black Friesiancow, is more trouble that she's worth, but he is really very fond ofhis good-natured cow. Klara has a mind of her own, which often getsher into tricky and humorous situations. After being in her barn all winter, Klara is bored and lookingforward to the taste of fresh, green grass again and decides to go insearch of it. Once in the meadow, she is confronted with a world thatis cold and white. After borrowing two pairs of red clogs from thefarm next door to keep her hooves warm, she ends up on the frozencanal. With some slipping and sliding and a strong wind, she findsherself being blown along the canal, and this is where her skatingadventure begins.

Linda Frietman was born in Buckinghamshire, England, but has livedmost of her life in Holland with her Dutch artist husband and theirtwo children. Linda worked for many years at the British School inNetherlands, working in key stage 1+2, where she developed her love ofchildren's literature. Travelling the world has been a big inspirationfor writing children's stories and narrative poems.
