Focusing primarily on the early twentieth century, A History of Progressive Education uses a historical perspective as a lens through which to consider the relevance of these ideas today and demonstrates how they connect to contemporary debates. Although primarily focused upon the United Kingdom, the book also considers how international ideas, such as those from Dewey in America, or more traditional Romantic ideas associated with Europe, have influenced domestic progressive thinking.
