FROM THE AUTHOR: My name is Alton Watkins, and I came to England in 1956. I met my wife in 1978, and we were married in 1981. We have no children and now live in Purfleet-on-Thames, a small riverside town in Essex. I spent most of my years in England in education, in the sense that the early years I studied for my GCEs, and then full-time studies at Avery Hill College, and then to Christ Church college where I qualified as a teacher specialising in Geography. I am now retired. On retirement, Yvonne and I travelled extensively all over Western Europe and parts of America. Yvonne's favourite area was Prague. My favourite country was France, with the Loire valley with all its chateaus and vineyards of special importance. We enjoyed every minute of it and had no problems with race or anything else.With the Windrush Generation, topics on race, and goodwill to all men very topical at the minute, I felt it was the right time to go public
