Close: A millennial tale of inhibition, inadequacy & intoxication

In "Origins" Lex flunks out of college and returns home to Čakovec, Croatia. He gets a job in retail and finds a girl who he falls in love with. Lora leaves him after a two month long distance relationship which devastates Lex. The break up blindsided him and the only answer he knows is drinking. Drinking and not thinking. The booze brings out his nasty side and he keeps spinning round and round until finally Lora tells him she's "sorry they ever met." after one of his late night drunk calls. This is a wake up for Lex who gets his life together.In the second part, "Suddenly 27", we find Lex working a job he loves and fresh out of another scarring relationship. Drunk again, he messages Lora and they have an open, platonic relationship which is just a complicated name for almost nothing. This goes on for a while. Lex gets fed up, drinks too much again, has disturbing thoughts about suicide and knows that this thing with Lora can't last and will be a bitch to get over. This time he knows what he has to do or he'll just wing it.I still struggle with self worth issues even while writing this. I mean, who cares about a depressed drunk from the ass end of Europe. Maybe it's just my Millennial entitlement (this is sarcasm) but I actually think that we need books and stories like this, if only to know that none of us are meant to or should suffer in solitude or silence.Type Millennial into a search engine and burn every website that wants to give you advice on how to exist.
