The only one she lets hang around her is Lila and despite her new owner's odd behavior, Lila forms a bond with Rosalyn that could be the key to helping her through her struggle of making friends and being the person Lila believes she is. Written by autistic author Carrie Scheer, the book provides an excellent and life-like perspective on the barriers and joys that autism brings to a coming-of-age story. For young readers it is an eye-opening lesson about the effects of bullying and compassion, as Rosalyn and her dog navigate junior high and family.
