Divine has always wondered why her mom was so overprotective of her. Growing up as an only child to a single mother had never been easy for her. She wondered many times why her mom sheltered her so much. Maybe it had something to do with her own upbringing, but Divine was sick and tired of her mom depriving her of a life. Every chance her mom had to keep her locked up in that house, she took it. Even when Divine was asked to walk on the homecoming court with one of the cutest boys on the football team, her mom still said no.
When she finally graduates and goes away to college, she sees it as her chance for freedom and she definitely takes advantage of it. Slipping away from her studies and engaging in parties every weekend is all Divine wants to do. But when a night out leaves her in a park with four strangers, she wonders if this was what her mom was trying to protect her from all that time.
Was it her fault? Divine blames herself for what happened. If she had done what her mom told her to do, none of that would've happened. Will Divine be able to get pass what happened to her and find love?
