商品資訊
商品簡介
Want to strengthen your portfolio's risk-return profile? Adding bonds can create a more balanced portfolio by adding diversification and calming volatility. But the bond market may seem unfamiliar even to the most experienced investors. Many investors make only passing ventures into bonds because they are confused by the apparent complexity of the market and the terminology. In reality, bonds are very simple debt instruments. So how do you get into this part of the market? Get your start in bond investing by learning these basic bond market terms.
You will be able to answer the below questions after reading this book:
- How to choose your stocks/bonds allocation
- How to become immune to changing interest rates
- When to use CDs and individual bonds
- How to choose a good bond fund
- How to hedge against unexpected inflation
This book contains excellent explanations of the reasons to own high-quality bonds even in a low-interest rate environment. The 2015 publication, given the recent reduction in interest rates, is still quite timely. The author explains why the risk in a stock/bond portfolio should be on the stock (equity) side of the portfolio, not the bond side. Thus, he urges his readers, for example, not to take an unnecessary risk by investing in high yield bonds that are likely to decline in value (instead of rising) at the very time when equity values decline during a sell-off. The author explains that bonds should be used to anchor a portfolio when the inevitable decline in stock values occurs. This book consists of excellent charts and examples.
