The book provides a comprehensive introduction to noise in microwave circuits, with a certain emphasis on noise characterization of devices and circuits. It describes fluctuations starting from their physical origin, passing through the definition of the typical quantities that form the jargon of the noise experts (and, as such, often learned by students and practitioners in the field only). The authors also touch on the general description of noise in linear and non-linear circuits (the latter being a quite specific topic, being described in few textbooks and references), describing device-specific noise models. The book concludes with several chapters devoted to the description of noise measurement techniques, and especially to the interpretation of the measured data.
