A Quiet Independence

Following love across the country, Louisa finds herself in a new city, with a new job and no friends. Her fresh start begins with a rude awakening after leaving the safety of a small town and moving to the big city. Corruption and greed lurk around every corner, but so does love, friendship, and kindness. While navigating the new phases of her relationship with Mac, including meeting his friends and family, she is also exposed to kidnapping and even a murder. Mac's family lives in a world very different from Louisa's. Will they accept her, or shun her as some poor girl only after their son's money? When the lines between the worlds begin to blur, things get complicated.
Until the war, Mac lived a cushy life. His stint in the war, and his injuries, opened his eyes to the real suffering in life and he is determined to make a difference. His family is not so open to change, and he comes to the realization that they may have been involved in some underhanded dealings through the family law firm. When one of Louisa's neighbors is murdered, and a co-worker disappears, it appears Mac's father Hank may have had some hand in the crimes, or at least their cover up. Will Louisa and Mac's love be able to withstand the pressures of society, their differences in lifestyle, and the possible alienation from family? Will God be able to provide answers and peace, or will the war Mac thought he left in Europe, rage on in their hearts?
