The history of the Village of Malverne began with a chance meeting between two young strangers at a Philadelphia convention in 1909. The two, Carl Eimer and Al Wagg, formed a partnership that purchased an abandoned farm in the most remote but picturesque part of Nassau County and proceeded to plan and develop a community. Throughout the years, all but one of the farms disappeared, homes and streets were built, and a community was created. Through it all, Malverne has retained much of its small-town charm. This book celebrates Malverne's history and brings to life many of the early settlers, vaudeville stars, actors, and characters who have lived here over the last century.
Donald V. Pupke Jr. has lived in Malverne for more than 30 years and has served the Malverne community as deputy mayor, trustee, and police commissioner and has volunteered with numerous community groups and organizations. He has written extensively about the history of Malverne on social media and currently serves as a board member of the Malverne Historical Society. He has researched and curated the best historical images from the historical society's vast collection to tell the story of the history of this remarkable and lovely community.
